The ecoinvent Association is looking for an ambitious sustainability analyst with a passion for sustainability and data driven business. The successful candidate will work both independently and in teams and interacts with users and data providers of the ecoinvent database in the Batteries & Electronics sector. You are open minded and like to work in a diverse team that is committed to improve decision making through high quality environmental data around the world
Your responsibilities
- Involvement, as a technical support, in various projects aimed at improving and developing the database, related to its core structure or the expansion of its coverage, including;
- desk researching tasks, deep-diving into manufacturing of battery/electronic products and providing analyses to the sector manager;
- reviewing datasets in data provision projects;
- Interaction with external stakeholders, such as data providers, to guide them through the data preparation and submission process;
- Support the communication efforts of ecoinvent and reinforce the support to users of the ecoinvent database.
- Support the development of tools and models to enhance the data creation process within the sector.
Your experience
- Degree in electronics/electrical engineering, electrochemistry, environmental engineering with a focus on electronics or batteries, or a related field;
- Preferably with one year (or more) of industry/research experience including data manipulation, life cycle inventory modelling, and interpretation for environmental impact assessments of batteries and/or electronic components and/or data centers;
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and/or end of life for various battery types and components (e.g., lithium-ion / nickel-metal hydride batteries and cells, battery electrodes) and electronic components is a plus;
- Experience in LCA, practical or theoretical, and with the ecoinvent methodology and data is a plus;
- Proficiency in English; any other language is an asset;
- Very good knowledge of MS Office;
- Basic programming skills, especially in Python;
- Self-motivated, systematic, curious, strong attention to detail.

You are enthusiastic about learning and pushing for innovation. You will work both independently and alongside internal and external collaborators— including users and data providers— so good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and a can-do attitude are essential. Managing various, diverse tasks at the same time does not phase you. You enjoy working in a diverse and international team, have a curious mind, and grasp new concepts quickly.
