The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to join the Chemicals and Plastics Sector team within the Database Content team. In this role, you will support LCI data modeling, validation, and tool development for chemical processes and products. Your responsibilities will include hands-on data creation, developing code-based solutions to enhance workflow quality and efficiency, and providing technical support to database users. You will also collaborate with the Sector Manager on methodological guidelines implementation and contribute to the development of the ecoinvent database.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct LCI data modeling and validation for chemical processes and products.
- Develop Python models and automation tools to streamline workflows and enable efficient data generation.
- Collaborate with industry partners and data providers to support data creation initiatives.
- Provide technical support to database users on chemical process datasets and methodologies.
- Support with database workflow planning and the development of methodological guidelines, best practices, and data analytics.
Your Profile
- Master’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Solid foundation in chemical process fundamentals: thermodynamics and process flowsheet development.
- Published research or professional experience in chemical process life cycle assessment methodology and life cycle inventory data development is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python programming for scientific applications and data analytics.
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills with ability to document complex methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills in English; German or French is a plus.
- Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability reporting standards is a plus.
- Knowledge of the ecoinvent database structure and workflows is a plus.

You also bring the ability to prioritize and manage various, diverse tasks, while respecting timelines and proactively flagging risks. You enjoy working in a diverse and international team, have a curious mind, and grasp new concepts quickly.
